Jul. 21st, 2005 03:33 pmMy across-the-street neighbor gave me a bit of a scare this morning. He's an older guy who lives by himself, although his late wife's family visits often, and he has a cleaning lady in once of twice a week. When I went out in the kitchen this morning, and looked out the window, I could see a pair of legs extending down the two or three steps to the front walk, but the rest of the body was invisible behind some bushes growing next to the steps. The legs did not appear to be moving, and I thought, gods, I hope he didn't have a heart attack; do I need to call 911?
I watched for a few moments more, and then I noticed that the sprinklers were turning on and off in different sections of the yard. One leg waved in the air a bit, and then finally he slowly sat up and looked at what his sprinklers were doing. Then he disappeared again.
I guess he must have been adjusting his automatic sprinkler system, but he gave me a bit of a turn.
