senoritafish: (6yrsold)
My book group is discussing The Princess Bride on Wednesday. If I pick it up tonight after work (at the used bookstore, I hope), I wonder if I can power through it by then?

I should really look into getting a library card, so my end-of-month shortages don't affect my reading so much.

We went to visit a bit with John's mom and grandmother (Gigi-ma, to the kids) last night; his grandmother is having surgery on her knee today, so we wanted to see her before she went to the hospital. She was a bit snappish and cross, nerves, I'm sure; and finally went to lie down before we left. We took that as our cue to leave at that point. John was still not feeling well and his grandmother always puts him on edge - whatever he says, he's wrong and more so last night, with the mood she was in.

Connie, John's mom, gave Avalon some hair bands while we were there. He just had to call me to ask how to put one on her.

"Well, I've never used these things before!"

Heh. I explained how to put it over her head, make sure it's under her hair in the back, then pull it back up over her forehead. Simple pimple. He should try them himself; his hair's long enough. ;)

Hope his grandmother's doing ok.
