senoritafish: (perfect TV mom)
From Neil Gaiman's Journal, way back in August:

Dear Neil, I have read "The Wolves in the Walls" to my three year old daughter. We both enjoyed it very much. She has informed me that there are horses in our walls and that we need to use tools to open the walls up and have a look.

Please let me know if I should send the bill for damaged wallboard directly to yourself or to your publisher.
Sincerely,
Cam

Let her know that she won't need to open them up and look inside. She just needs to wait until the Horses Come Out of the Walls...

What's funny is that I bought Wolves in the Walls for the kids shortly after Gareth's birthday, sort of as a present to everyone. When we were done reading it for the first time, Gareth said the same thing - "We have horses in our walls." Is there some sort of subliminal message there that we adults are not getting?

Further wolfish Garthisms:

He went in the pantry and closed the pocket door. From there our conversation went:

Me: What are you doing in there, G-man?
G: I'm hiding. There's wolves out there.
Me: Come on. There aren't any wolves out here.
G: You're a wolf.
Me: I am not a wolf.
G: Yes, you are. You're just a happy wolf.

Anyway, we highly reccommend Wolves in the Walls, whether you have kids or not. It's quirky and funny, and you'll never quite hear those noises your house makes in the middle of the night in quite the same way.
