Jul. 13th, 2004 12:07 pmMinor irritations: Hmm, I seem to be getting a canker sore on the inside of my lower lip. Or else I bit myself, but I can't think how I would have done it there. I also seem to have stuck the tips of a couple of my fingers in something corrosive. In a couple of spots, my fingerprints have completely peeled off, and I had to put a bandaid on to be able to type.
Trying to think of what vacation days I want to take between now and the end of the year; because my boss asked us to submit them. I have taken off the week between Christmas and New Years for the last couple of years, so maybe it's my turn to stay in the office. I don't think we'll be going anywhere. I've told John, but he's not gotten back to me yet.
Gareth has still been asking if I'm worried about Bob, and I tell him Bob is past worrying about now. He keeps asking if we can get a new cat and name him Bob. I think it's a little too soon, and besides, we still have three cats who need attention as well. Stimpy and Goldie won't get near the kids, however; Goldie is only now warming up to me, even though we've had her for several years. She was used to living with a 98-year-old woman, and transferring to a noisy family with small children was a difficult transition for her, I'm afraid. However, she is good friends with Spot, who tolerates them better, so maybe she's learning. Normally, in the morning, she wants to skitter outside as quickly as possible, but I've started charging a toll for opening the door. Skritch, skritch, skritch, around the ears and chin, and at the base of the tail, where she can't reach because she's too fat. She's always reluctant at first, but after I've done it for a few minutes, sometimes she hangs around and meows for more.
I saw a tiny sidebar for this organization in Newsweek. I wish I'd known about it two weeks ago.
The Nikki Hospice Foundation for Pets
I'm not sure there are any vets in the area who participate in this but I will surely bring it to my vet's attention.
