...for more than just killing off two of my favorite radio stations in L.A....
An exchange from my Worldclass Rock mailing list:
Granted, I didn't know about it either, but I don't live in North Dakota and I haven't had a radio in my car for about three weeks. This mailing list was created by Nicole Sandler, a DJ who worked at both of those stations, and the internet station of the same name after the one on the air was shut down. Clear Channel then fired all the DJs and automated the whole thing.
Edit: Not only that, but apparently when Warren Zevon died, none of the Clear Channel stations in this area could deviate enough from their all-important playlists to even play one of his songs in remembrance.

"The corporate stations are so hung up on pushing concert tickets that it's a wonder they'll tell you if there's a hurricane outside. (I trust everyone has heard the story of the toxic spill that was not reported on an automated ClearChannel station becuase nobody was there to let the public know they had to evacuate)."
"That toxic spill happened outside Minot, North Dakota & all the radio stations in Minot are owned by Clear Channel (I think). You're right no one knew including my cousin's son who walked out his door & died immediately because he didn't know what was going on. His was the only death. He left behind a wife & 2 kids."
