Squeee!
Lookie who I get to take home after work today!

A co-worker came by before the holidays saying that someone had abandoned a mother cat and litter of kittens in her apartment complex; that is, no one living there laid claim to them. She was trying to find homes for them, and I ran it by John, as he's the allergic one. He said absolutely not before the holidays, as it's one of the worst times to adopt animals, but possibly we could be a backup if any of the homes found for them fell though. When I came back to work Monday, I found the above picture on my desk with "I need a forever home" written in red across the top; the person adopting her had backed out. I ran it by John again last night and I was surprised that he had no objection at all! He even brought the carrier to me here at work so I can follow Kim to her place and pick her up.
Funny, Gareth came to me last week and said, a bit sadly, "I didn't get anything on my Xmas list," although he did get some things that were pretty close and he liked what he did get. I looked at his again, as it's still clinging to the fridge with a magnet, and the last numbered item on the list was "10. Kitten."
I hadn't remembered that; I must have just dismissed it out of hand, and three of our last adopted cats (or that adopted us, really) have been adults, so I just assumed our next would be too. I actually enquired after the mother and wondered if she had found a home, but no, she disappeared soon after the kittens were found.
I'm nervous. We haven't had a kitten since Stimpy, and he's two years older than Angus!

You DO know that Kitty joining the family means you are duty-bound to post pics for us here, right??

Also, what's she going to be called?

He might be teething already (about 8 weeks old), we've seen him chewing on some things, but in my experience, kittens aren't nearly as bad as puppies in that respect. But I'll keep you posted. ;)
